What We Do

Reconstruction Services

Insurance-funded rebuilding from permitted demolition through final inspection. One contractor, full responsibility, Bay Area since 1983.

Primary Service

Fire Damage Reconstruction

After a fire, the structural, mechanical, and finish work required to rebuild a home correctly is substantial. Coast Construction manages the entire scope — from selective demolition and structural repair through framing, roofing, insulation, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, electrical, plumbing, and final finishes.

We work from your carrier’s Xactimate estimate, identify omissions, document code-required upgrades, and prepare supplements systematically. The goal is to ensure your policy funds are used to actually complete the work — not to leave gaps.

  • Complete structural assessment and permitted demolition
  • Framing, sheathing, roofing, and weatherproofing
  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC to current code
  • Insulation, drywall, tape and texture
  • Cabinetry, countertops, doors, windows, and hardware
  • Flooring — hardwood, tile, carpet, LVP
  • Interior and exterior paint and finishes
  • Code upgrade documentation and supplement preparation
  • Permits, inspections, and final sign-off

Many owners use the reconstruction as an opportunity to upgrade finishes or reconfigure layouts. We welcome that and manage the cost separation correctly so it doesn't complicate your insurance claim.

Reconstruction

Water & Flood Damage Rebuilds

Once emergency services have dried the structure, reconstruction begins. Water damage repairs vary widely in scope — from a single affected room to a full interior rebuild following a pipe failure or flood event.

We work from the adjuster’s scope, identify what the estimate doesn’t include, and build a complete plan. Structural drying may uncover damage that wasn’t visible at the time of the original estimate; we document and supplement as needed.

  • Subfloor and structural member replacement where damaged
  • Drywall, insulation, and cavity drying coordination
  • Flooring replacement — matching existing or upgrading
  • Cabinetry and millwork affected by water intrusion
  • Electrical and plumbing repairs as required by code
  • Mold remediation coordination (performed by licensed remediators)
  • Supplement preparation for hidden damage discoveries

03

Insurance Coordination

Scope Development & Insurance Coordination

The estimate your adjuster produces is a starting point, not a final construction plan. It reflects what the carrier believes the job costs based on their inspection — but adjusters are not contractors. Omissions, incorrect line items, missing code upgrades, and underestimated quantities are normal.

Coast Construction’s estimators work in Xactimate, the same platform carriers use. We review the adjuster’s scope line by line, identify what’s missing or incorrect, prepare supplement documentation, and discuss what is actually needed with your insurer professionally and systematically.

  • Line-by-line review of carrier Xactimate estimates
  • Identification of omissions and underestimates
  • Code upgrade documentation (building ordinance coverage)
  • Supplement preparation and carrier negotiation
  • Replacement cost value vs. ACV tracking
  • Mortgage company lien release coordination
  • Documentation of additional living expense periods where applicable

We do not act as a public adjuster and do not charge separate fees for insurance coordination. This is part of how we deliver a complete project.

Other Covered Loss Types

Structural, Vehicle & Storm Damage

Not all damage is from fire or water. Coast Construction also handles reconstruction following vehicle impacts, tree strikes, wind events, and other structural loss types covered under standard homeowner and commercial property policies.

The process is the same: assess the structural damage, develop a complete scope, pull permits where required, and rebuild correctly to current code. We document everything required for the carrier and manage the project from start to finish.

  • Vehicle and object impact — wall, foundation, and structural repair
  • Tree and debris strike damage
  • Wind and storm damage reconstruction
  • Roof system replacement following storm or impact loss
  • Foundation and structural repair following settlement or impact
  • Multi-family building damage following any covered loss event

Full Service

Design & Project Management

Coast Construction handles every aspect of your project — not just the construction. We coordinate engineers for structural plans, pull all required permits, manage subcontractors and trades, schedule inspections, and stay in regular communication with you throughout.

We also offer in-house design using 3D software. Kitchen and bath reconfiguration, layout changes, finish selections — these are handled as part of the project, not as a separate engagement.

  • Structural engineering coordination where required
  • Permit applications and plan check management
  • Subcontractor coordination and quality oversight
  • Inspection scheduling and building department liaison
  • In-house design and 3D visualization
  • Kitchen and bath layout consultation
  • Finish and material selection support
  • Regular project communication and schedule updates

How It Works

From first call to final inspection.

01

Initial Contact & Site Visit

We respond quickly, assess the damage, and walk through what the project entails. No cost, no obligation at this stage.
02

Scope Review & Estimate

We review your carrier’s estimate, identify what’s missing, and prepare our own complete scope. We discuss what is actually needed with your insurer.
03

Contract & Plans

Once scope is agreed, we contract with you directly. Plans are prepared — typically 4 weeks — and submitted for permits.
04

Permits & Start

Permit timing varies by jurisdiction. We manage plan check, respond to corrections, and schedule the start once permits are issued.
05

Construction

We build. Regular updates, scheduled inspections, and consistent quality oversight throughout. Supplemental items are documented and submitted as they arise.
06

Final Inspection & Closeout

Final building inspection, punch list, and project closeout. We don’t consider the project done until you do.
