Fire Damage Reconstruction

After a fire, the structural, mechanical, and finish work required to rebuild a home correctly can be substantial. Coast Construction develops and manages the reconstruction project from structural repair and framing through roofing, insulation, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, electrical, plumbing, finishes, permits, inspections, and closeout.

We work from the insurer’s reconstruction position, identify omissions or deficiencies that affect the work, document code-required upgrades, and prepare supplements as needed.

Many owners use reconstruction as an opportunity to improve finishes or reconfigure layouts. We can separate owner-selected upgrades from the insurer-funded reconstruction work so both remain understandable.

Reconstruction

Water & Flood Damage Rebuilds

When emergency stabilization and drying are complete, reconstruction begins. Water-related damage may range from one room to a major interior rebuild.

We evaluate the reconstruction work required after damaged materials are removed or conditions become visible, compare that work with the insurer’s position, and document additional construction needs when required.

Scope Development & Insurance Coordination

The insurer’s estimate is a starting point, not necessarily a complete construction plan.

We work directly with insurers regarding the reconstruction project. We thoroughly review the insurer’s reconstruction position to determine whether it is complete, and we bring needed additions or deficiencies to the insurer’s attention when the work required to properly complete the project has not been fully recognized.

Our estimating and documentation work includes reconstruction scope development, Xactimate estimating, supplements, code-upgrade documentation, engineering and permit-related costs, and supporting construction documentation needed for insurer review.

Full Service

Design & Project Management

Coast Construction coordinates the reconstruction project beyond the physical building work.

We coordinate engineers, plans, permits, subcontractors, specialty trades, inspections, scheduling, owner selections, and closeout. In-house design and 3D visualization can support kitchen, bath, layout, and finish decisions when an owner wants to improve the property during rebuilding.

How It Works

From first call to final inspection.

Initial Contact & Site Review

We discuss the loss, the condition of the property, what has already been done, and where the insurer is in its process. When appropriate, we inspect the property and begin identifying the reconstruction issues that need to be developed.

Early Project Development

We do not wait for every reconstruction detail to be finalized before moving the project forward. Where appropriate, we seek early insurer authorization for engineering, plans, and permit-related costs so that project development and permitting can proceed while the broader reconstruction scope and pricing continue through review. This concurrent approach can reduce avoidable delay and move the project toward permit-ready construction sooner.

Scope Development & Insurer Review

We develop the reconstruction scope and pricing, review the insurer’s position, identify missing or deficient items, prepare supplements when needed, and discuss the construction requirements with the insurer.

Formal Reconstruction Contract

Once the reconstruction project is sufficiently developed and the required funding is in place, the project proceeds under a formal reconstruction contract.

Plans, Permits & Preconstruction

Engineering and plans are completed as required, permit applications move through plan check, corrections are addressed, and construction is scheduled once the required approvals are in place.

Construction

We build the project. Coast coordinates our own field staff, specialty subcontractors, inspections, material sequencing, owner decisions, and construction documentation. Additional project requirements are documented as they arise.

Final Inspection & Closeout

The project proceeds through final inspections, owner walkthrough, punch-list completion, and closeout. The job is not complete simply because the major construction is finished; the final details matter.
